unsure whether to buy a pet rabbit!

Hi there, I'm Ross and I am hoping for some helpful advice. I had a rabbit when I was younger but I haven't had one since and I am thinking about getting another. I am wondering what are the best breeds of rabbit to keep as a pet? And how does someone go about finding a reputable breeder of this rabbit??

Adopt or rescue NEW

Agree that you should adopt. I got my bun from an unwanted littler, wanted a bun w/ a good personality. She's a sweetheart
Adopt or rescue and choose based on personality. Personally, I think that the rabbit's look doesn't matter. :)

there are reputable breeders!! NEW
by: Anonymous

I bought an 8 week old mini lop of an amazing breeder. They are out there you just have to look!! I have a pure bred mini lop male who I bought for £40. If you are buying a mini lop if there any cheaper than 30 I wouldn't as chances are there not pure bred. When approaching a breeder ask to come and see the rabbits first, and not just the babies! The breeder I bought from had a huge heated shed outside and all of her adult bunnies were tame and friendly and could show me both mummy and daddy to all her litters not just the litter I got my baby from. This is very important so as not to be given a baby from parents with bad temperaments or unhealthy. Do your research, having a rabbit as a child is different to being the sole carer of a rabbit. Once all that's done you can enter the wonderful world of owning rabbits :) x

Before getting a rabbit, you need to do a lot of research. For example, they can live for up to 12 years old. Also, as they are social animals, keeping rabbit alone should be avoided, so you would preferably need at least 2. These are just a couple of facts about rabbits but there are a lot more things to consider. Also, it is always best to rescue or re-home a rabbit instead of buying from a shop, as there are thousands of unwanted rabbits put in rescues each year.

netherland dwarf
by: Anonymous

Get a netherland dwarf. They are very cute and kind, small, and gentle. Unlike others, they usually don't mind being picked up,but with soe it might not be the case. I recomend you go on kijiji and look up rabbbits there. that's how I got all of my many pets, including rabbits.

adopt dont buy

The words reputable and breeder dont often go in the same sentence. Go to a rescue where you can choose a bunny by its personality and not just its breed.
