How old for first contact with old rabbit?

Hi
I have an old bunny, 6.5 years old, neutered, who lost his friend Luna.

Now I have a 10 weeks old TeddyLop Bunny, female. They seem to fear each other, but show "binkiness" when they have contact through a metal net.

Shall I wait until baby bun is older when I first try a direct contact with the two?
