Housing Questions

by First-time Rabbit Owner
(United States)

I am thinking about adopting a minilop. I have a few questions about housing:

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good hutch/cage?
(not too expensive)

Do I need to buy a place for the rabbit to hide?

Can a hutch be used indoors?

Any advice for a new rabbit owner please !

Make your own NEW

If you are going to keep him in it allot I recommend making one. I made one that’s a pen not a hutch it’s very roomy and I made it for about $100 .

Good resource NEW

I found www.bestrabbithutch.com to be a good resource for rabbit hutch reviews. Becca and her hubby did a good job of buying and reviewing a bunch of hutches so the rest of us don't have to.

large indoor dog cage is best! NEW
by: Anonymous

My house mini lop is also in a large dog cage. He loves it!! Can have his litter, good hay and sleeping area and still have room to hop and jump and do mini binkys :) only issue I had is my little mischief maker learnt how to jump out so I just bought a cover to go over the top which could stop him jumping out in the middle of the night and him then being unable to get back in! Give him a cardboard box with a door and some windows, he'll love that as a little hidey hole and probably end up putting more windows in like my little man does lol hope it helps and let us know how you get on with bringing home your new baby x

I bought a large dog cage so
I could litter train in one box and bedding box with Timothy hay in a bowl. Also this gives them room to hop and jump.

cage
by: rosemary

Hello
I have a mini lop rabitt and right from the beginning I bought a Ferblast cage for him .He is a indoor rabitt so has plenty of room in it mostly sleeping in it.
They are expensive but once you have it you dont have to change it.I hope this will help you decide.
Happy bunny times.

They have these blue cages at petsmart that isn't really expensive that comes with toys, bedding, food, and hay to start out with. Just so you know, it doesn't come with enough so you will need to buy more. The employees will help you with that stuff.
